Smoke

moving heavenward,

all but invisible to the

mortal eye that looks

right through them in

creating its own veil,

embroidered with

countless pores, for

protecting the fragile

soul from their residual

omnipresence;

yet, they sneak through,

unbeknownst to the

observer, but clearly

visible to the mortal eye,

as they move heavenward,

taking souls, leaving tears…

She Falls

She falls from the top
opening herself upon me
bathing me in her arms-

washing away my clothes
and nakedness
to the murkier depths

yelling silence,
hugging womanhood
as she flattens out
to the plateau below

yet she remains dry
and virgin,
purifying our love
long after I'm gone.

More Violet than Violet

Anybody is nobody
but somebody’s someone,
a common man, one in million
I search in vain for a reason unknown
with an empty heart full of emotions
and a soliloquy more violet than Violet,
traveling to a horizon looming
very near yet unreachable.

All along a gentle storm
violent than a thousand calm
sings in my heart…
Blessed are those who
bless themselves
by blessing others.

Difficult it is to reason-
for the quest behind these words
to reach a state of happiness
jumbled among a populace of pebbles
lying unraveled in the human ocean.

I am a truthful liar
for lie is too convenient to bend
a metaphor married to irony,
Emotions run in myriad colors
yet I see all a black and white.

My work is a lullaby to my conscience,
‘Sleep’ you my faithful enemy,
sleep until you and I become
that anyone who is
someone to somebody.

Portraits on Water

Upon a lonely path under wet sun

I walked along a silent pool

of crying water, nevertheless cool

on a gloomy mood and feverish fun.

The memory a picture of black & white

of the greenness of the pool dark as fear

of it reflecting the forest sitting very near

and of the breeze that blew through the night.

Beneath the pool I saw them, work of arts

of empty jar, of dried leaves, of barren land

of funny face that laughed with a big 'O' smile.

Emerald water hasn't conquered their hearts

for the jar remains empty, the land dry with sand

leaves more drier, and the laughter echoes for a mile.

machoism and

I fell down from your thought

with a cape of good hope

embracing softer curves

along the velvetiness of your hair

to the gorge below

through the tip of your hip.

once I hugged you from behind

with bad thoughts on my mind

but you filtered them through

your hair and took them with

care.

once my love moved through

your body, soft and slippery,

exploring unexplored places

searching for the forbidden fruit

in the valley of gods, with

nothing but your hair

to balance my desire.

with your bottom as its base

Them

They remain visible to us,

when we look through them,

trying to spot the infinite energy

flowing- down, across, and away.

But they stand testimony to

our presence at that point in time

and space.

Yet, they remain invisible;

for they’re made to appear so

by our hedonic pursuits.

But, long after, as we sift through

words, do we come across a poem

that talks about ‘them’.

And we ask ‘Who are they?’

or worse, ‘Don’t remember seeing them,’

The answer, though, is closer to us.

Everywhere. To the soul.

They, probably, were our

fellow passengers on the bus,

or the fruit vendors on roadside,

or the tour guide(s) roaming around,

taking us to that waterfalls, or

probably, the stones in that waterfall-

upon which the water becomes a spray!

from either side,

the feral trail

unwound its way

through the lifeless

jungle, waiting for

some soul to stroll.

She shifted her derriere, again,

comforting her denim trousers

that looked a little wet now,

licked by her lucky sweat,

quenching the thirstiness
the car seat, whilst

increasing that of his libido;

the car, as though on cue

shrieked ahead, gears tightening,

her love loosening, his lust opening,

then all of a sudden, it leaked,

attracting her stare, igniting his shock

and that of their car into a ball of flame.

I let myself down, forever,
by growing up, eating time
as much as I want to spend
it with my loved ones,
losing my time every moment,
getting happy and sad, again
and again.., but I stay positive,
with a child's hope of reclaiming
my lost moments with the flip
of a coin, betting my trust on the
traitor called time, but a coward
he is, always running, escaping my
grasp; I would win though
for I'm growing up too, faster
than ever before...these days I
laugh at him, an arrogant laugh
it is, as he is on back foot, always
catching up with me.

broccoli, brinjal, banana,

their eyes lovely like grapes

guarding tirelessly over

crimson tomatoes-

eavesdropping to the melody

by a crayon shaded parrot

sitting alone, relaxing

on a velvet like cabbage skin,

munching on a carrot,

trying to quench its thirst

from the falling rain drops

that is creating coloured lines

out of glassy moist air-

brightened by a bio

luminous sea-

captured by a

one eyed photographer.
